Janna Popoff is a Canadian artist who was born and raised in a small community in the Southern Interior of British Columbia.
She began her art education in Nelson B.C at Kootenay School of Art and Design. After two years at KSA she moved to Halifax Nova Scotia where she completed her degree and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Art from Nova Scotia College of Art. The impact that NSCAD had on her as an artist and as an individual was a huge catalyst in Janna's life to pursue a life less ordinary.
At present the focus of her work is greatly inspired by colours in the changing seasons, clouds and landscapes; which focus on moments of pause and reflection. She is intrigued by memory, subtly, simplicity and space. She has also spent time on painting toys and contrasts that subject matter with references to vintage wallpaper. Janna has lately been exploring pigs and the colour variations in their skin.
Janna has a great passion and love for painting and is most happy working on her canvasses. She works in oil paint and wax encaustic on canvas and board.
